His teaching at the Faculty of Economics in Florence and on doctoral programs in Florence and Siena over the years has included: micro and macroeconomics both intermediate and advanced, game and decision theory, growth theory, and the history of economic thought. His research work has covered the following fields: history of economic thought, especially that of Alfred Marshall and the Cambridge economists of the 20th century; labour economics; decision theory, uncertainty and game theory; the mathematization of political economy; industrial districts. He is presently conducting research on Italian economists during fascism, and Italian schools of thought after WWII. From 1991 to 2012 he was the editor, together with Tiziano Raffaelli, of the online journal “Marshall Studies Bulletin”.
