Luciano Renato Segreto studied at the University of Florence. He was a CNR researcher in England and Germany, and a researcher at the European University Institute of Fiesole. He worked as a business archivist before starting his university career. He was a researcher of Economic History at the University of Ancona between 1985 and 1995, when he moved to the University of Florence. He is Associate Professor of Economic History since 1998. He has held courses and seminars within the framework of the Erasmus program at around forty European and Chinese universities. He is part of the Scientific Committee of the journal “Studi Storici”, the “Revista de Historia Industrial e Impresarial”, the Editorial Committee of the "Quaderni dell’Archivio storico della Banca d’Italia", and the editorial body of the journal “Passato e Presente”. He is a member of the scientific council of the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme d'Aquitaine and of the Board of Patrons of My Europe.
