Giacomo Tempesta

Field of study: Structural Mechanics

Since 1993 he is Associate Professor of Construction Science. Over the years, he has held courses in Static, Construction Science, Construction Technique, Structural Design and Static and the Stability of Masonry Structures, the latter on the iCad Master’s Degree course in English. Since 2000, at the School of Specialization in Architectural Heritage and Landscape, he runs the course on Static and Stability of Masonry Structures at the Laboratory of the Analysis and Reading of Historical Buildings. From 2010 to 2017 he was President of the Degree in Architecture Sciences. Since 2013 he has been the Technical Director for structures within the Academic Spin-off DiaCon S.r.l. The general research topic pursued over the years includes the study of the static and dynamic behavior of masonry structures, with particular reference to problems concerning the analysis of monumental historical architecture. A more specific topic of in-depth analysis concerns the development of numerical calculation models applicable to the analysis of the structural behavior of the building elements of historical architecture such as arches, vaults and domes.
